Researcher in electron crystallography methods
The successful candidate (m/f) will become a part of an internationally recognized research team. He/she will participate in the development and application of electron crystallography methods.
What you will do
- Develop and implement structure refinement methods for electron crystallography
- Test new algorithms on experimental data
- Perform diffraction experiments in a transmission electron microscope
- Process electron diffraction data
- Solve and refine crystal structures
- Prepare scientific publications
- Present your research at international scientific conferences
What we do
- Focus on structure determination using methods of electron crystallography, in particular the 3DED method
- Develop new approaches in structure analysis of micro- and nanocrystals
- Customize and optimize data collection strategies of 3DED data in transmission electron microscope
- Develop widely used crystallographic software Superflip. Jana2006/Jana2020, PETS2
- Apply the methods to diverse range of scientific problems of chemistry and materials science
- Maintain many international collaborations
- Present the results on the international meetings and conferences
Required qualifications
- PhD in physics, chemistry, material science or mineralogy
- Practical knowledge of crystallographic methods (x-ray, neutron and/or electron)
- At least basic knowledge of programming (Fortran/C/C++/Python)
- Advanced English, written and spoken
Beneficial qualifications
- Experience with electron microscopy and electron diffraction, both experimental and theoretical (physics of electron-matter interaction)
- Familiarity with the operating system MS Windows
- Systematic approach to problem solving
- Ability to write a scientific text
- Presentation skills

Terms of employment
Start of employment as soon as possible, depending on the availability of the applicant.
1- 2-year contract with possible extension up to five years, full-time (part-time negotiable)
